So Zach has got me addicted to Lost, which is starting to delve into paradoxes involved with time travel. It got me thinking about some of my favorite moments in TV & Film involving Time Travel, and I think the final scene in Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey does just about the right thing in the absurdity department.
Do you have any preferred moments involving time travel?

I gotta say, I dug Excellent Adventure a lot more than the Bogus Journey.
ReplyDeleteAlso, BTTF, of course. All of the first one. The hoverboard scene, the diner scene, the holograms, sneakers, and a lot of other stuff in 2. Also, Flight of the Navigator, just because it's a staple from my childhood. Also, He-Man: Masters of the Universe! Oh, yeah, and Army of Darkness. I guess these are more whole examples of time travel than they are moments, but still.
Oh, and I love that episode of the Simpsons where Homer has the time travel toaster and he finds an almost perfect universe, then he freaks out when no one knows what a donut is, and after he leaves it starts raining donuts. Classic.
Flight of the Navigator is Time Dilation not Time Travel.
ReplyDeleteBack to the Future is chalk full of great time travel moments. One of my particular favorites is when Doc Brown ask who the President is in 1985 and is told Reagen and then ask "Reagen the actor? Who is the vice president Jerry Lewis?" I also like when Marty pretends to be Darth Vader from the Planet Vulcan and blares Volcano in his father's ear in order to frighten him into asking out Lorraine out on a date.
Two great modern films that will fuck with your head and are about time travel are Time Crimes and Primer; both are great head trips.
