Music News

I just found out that It's True got accepted to play at SXSW this year! Add this to the list of reasons I wish I had enough money to go. I am so proud of this band.
Also, this Friday will be the grand re-opening of The Waiting Room - since they've been closed for the remodels the past couple of weeks - and there's a free show with Kyle Harvey, Little Black Stereo, and Little Brazil. Yes, free. You should probably go.

Also, this Saturday at the Barley Street Tavern Kyle Harvey, Kick Narl and the Boys (Nick Carl), and All Young Girls Are Machine Guns will be playing. Starts at 9, $5. Should be a solid show. If you haven't seen Nick Carl before, you should definitely come out. Also, you can check out AYGAMG YouTube channel here for her original music as well as some local and classic covers.

  1. I've been torn on this, I did sign up for the Mr. O'Leavers Pageant, this seems like a lot less work. I have not seen It's True in several months, I was getting worn out on them since they seemed to have the same 5 songs. Last time I saw LBS was last month when the Sydney needed a door man, free beer and free music, best 30 bucks I've ever made. Kyle Harvey is too sad bastard to the extreme in my opinion.

So, we'll see which option in chosen...

  2. I thought about going to the Mr. O'Leavers thing, but I don't really hang out there that much these days, so. The It's True show is probably going to be Thursday (late) and they DO have at least two new songs that I've heard (and fucking great ones, at that), and I'll probably hit up the Waiting Room for sure on Friday. LBS is a fun band (and I hear there may be a change in members) so I'm pretty stoked to see them. Also, Kyle's music is sad, but I really dig his writing. To each his own, I suppose.

You should check out Kick Narl for sure some time. He's the guy everyone says sounds like Ryan Adams. Also, Becki (AYGAMG) plays ukulele which...normally isn't my bag, but she has a pretty great voice and she loves soul, beards, and Dr. Who, and is a pretty cool gal. :)

  3. Also, there have been plans formulating for a Mr. Barley Street pageant as well. Real excited about that one, for sure.
