Jaguar Cars

Anyone that knows me well has heard me ramble on ad nauseum about Automobiles. To me they are the prefect meeting of engineering and art, smooth lines and powerful engines. Just looking at a well built machine is enough to evoke almost a primal desire to blast across the country at speeds in excess of 100 miles an hour. Then you hear the engine roar that primal desire becomes the dominating thought in your consciences. As your grip the steering wheel you become a part of the machine, a cyborg, unstoppable and uncatchable.

Now, the top of my list for manufacturers that make vehicles that exemplify and evoke this feeling is Jaguar. Now in the hands of Tata Motors, their prestige and excellence is being rebuilt after nearly two decades of negligence under Ford's watch. I've actually had the honor of owning a 1983 XJ6, in British Racing Green (the only color for any car from Great Britain in my opinion). There are three cars I would like to talk about in this post, the XKSS, E-Type and the XJ220.

The XKSS is the road going version of the D-Type; a 3 time Le Mans winning race car. The most famous owner of the XKSS was Steve McQueen, the original king of cool. A beautiful sleek looking classic vehicle with prestige and history, the XKSS is a prime example of what an automobile should be.

The Second vehicle is the E-Type; maybe most recognized by our readers as the car Harold drove in Harold and Maude. With its long hood and shooting brake style, the E-Type is a most lust worthy vehicle.

And finally, the Super Car, the Jaguar XJ220. A vehicle created as a pet project by some the engineers at Jaguar, the XJ220 was the fast going road car in its day. Usurped by the McLaren F1, then Koenigsegg CCR, than the Bugatti Veyron. With a mid-engine 6.2 liter V12 pushing 500+ horsepower, and 281 produced, this is by definition a super car.
